I've never been a "just one necklace" kind of person. I'm Paola, the founder of Gri-Gri.
You'll most often find me in a plain white t-shirt, layered with multiple necklaces, bracelets, rings on almost every finger, and ears that always catch the light. You'll usually hear me before you see me. Bracelets and rings clicking, layers of necklaces moving with me.
That's kind of the point. Jewellery is meant to be worn. It makes an outfit. It changes how you feel, how you move, how you show up. Some days it's confidence, some days it's comfort, sometimes it's just a little bit of luck.
I've always been drawn to pieces that mean something. Symbols, stories, little talismans you carry with you. The weight of bracelets on your wrist. Rings stacked across your fingers. A necklace you absentmindedly play with all day. It's not just visual, it's tactile, sensory, kind of addictive.
More likely three necklaces than one. I love layering, mixing chains, metals, gemstones and textures, from fine to demi-fine.
In French, a gri-gri is a small charm or talisman, something you carry with you for protection, luck or meaning. Jewellery that isn't just decorative but personal. Pieces that hold something beyond how they look.
After years of living in London and collecting jewellery, I realised I couldn't find what I was actually looking for. Everything felt either too basic or too serious. I wanted bold, interesting pieces that still felt wearable and didn't require a life-changing investment.
Nothing generic, nothing forgettable. Just pieces with personality that you can stack, mix and play with. Pieces that make you feel a bit more like yourself, or maybe just a slightly bolder version.
